Today I am thankful that I took a break from my grading, put the kids in the car, drove a mile or so down the road to a new, sustainable restaurant/cooking school that was putting on an afternoon of music and food, so the kids and I could dance in the sunshine.
The band, named the Tipsy Gypsies, was fabulous. A blend of Billie Holiday and some sort of Parisian inspired music.
It almost felt like I was sitting in some French cafe in the 1940s (minus the fact that it was on the back lot of this restaurant). People came, brought their own wine and beer, ate snacks they brought, played jump rope with their kids, bought and ate sustainable food.
Luke danced in the sunshine, wearing a big old hat, totally oblivious to the fact that everyone was watching him:
This afternoon made the rest of my evening grading totally bearable.
Yay! Have a great trip, and let’s get together when we all get back, shall we?
