Over the holiday break, I read all 7 Harry Potter books. I mean, I was kind of addicted.
This is because the books are SO GOOD. I don’t care what Harold Bloom says, J.K. Rowling is a genius, and I loved that for a few weeks, my mind was sucked into a world of wizards and muggles and magic. Even for me, someone who is not into fantasy fiction, it was an amazing adventure.
Maddie is a lot like me when it comes to genres we love reading, but after I raved about each book, she too started reading, and now she is almost finished with the 7th book.
We both wish there were more to read, but we sating our desires by watching the films.
Tonight, we’re scheduled to watch the 4th Harry Potter movie, and I’m so thankful we’re taking the time to watch the movies (and obviously that we took the time to read the books). More importantly, I’m thankful Maddie and I have something to connect us. It seems like lately we are suffering from a bit of a disconnect, partly because we’re both so busy and also because Maddie’s getting older and is a full-blown preteen, so hanging out with me is not on the top of her list of things to do. But Harry Potter is bringing us back together, and I’m looking forward to bonding over the rest of the movies together as well.
We’re having such a Harry Potter love fest at my house, and I love it.
