After 3 relatively messy, lonely, boring, and thought provoking years, I am attempting to re-center myself. First step? Taking a year to note what I am thankful for. From there? Live and move on.
UPDATE:
This blog started on March 12, 2010, my 34th birthday. You can read the first entry here.
My goal was successful. Minus a few days of posting entries a bit past midnight, I actually DID blog once a day, focusing on something I was thankful for.
My 6 month entry can be read here.
My year of thanks ended on March 12th, 2011, my 35th birthday. Even though it took me a few days past my birthday to write an ending blog post, you can read the last “official” year of thanks post here.
Yet, I missed writing. So I decided to write every Tuesday, calling it “Thankful Tuesdays.” But soon, I found myself writing about not so much what I was thankful for as much as just my life in general: kids, working, dating, cleaning the house, going on trips, books, music, and everything in between. However, despite the fact that I no longer make a special effort to be thankful for each thing, I am–very much so–incredibly thankful for everything I write about. If I wasn’t thankful about it then it would not be in the post.
Alas, “Thankful Tuesdays” have also now gone away. Now I write when I have a chance and try to catch up on where I left off. This makes my posts longer, more difficult to write, but easier for me in the long run to manage.
I hope you enjoy this blog.
P.S. I know I have typos. I’ve learned to let them go. You should too.
P.P.S. I also rarely respond to comments. I know this is terrible blog form, BUT in all honesty, I’m really, really busy. Please forgive me. I do read and appreciate all comments left!
Good Start! (Oprah would be SO proud! (And it counts as “watching Oprah” if you ask said sister to TIVO her for you).
Lovely idea! I did a series of “Thankful Thursday” posts–it was a soul-satisfying exercise. Blessings!
Amazing that after reading “The Magic” this month, I happened to stumble upon your blog today while looking for the Irish blessing to give to my niece who just passed her driving test…serendipity at its best!
